David Haye (27-2, 25 KOs) has stoked the flames of a possible showdown with Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 early) by telling Sky Sports that he would KO the 2012 Olympic gold medallist if they were to meet.
The 35-year-old made his long-awaited comeback against Mark de Mori last month, but fans will have to wait a little longer to see more of him as he KO’d the Australia-based boxer in a single round.
“Hayemaker” believes that the current British and Commonwealth champion would also crumble if hit with one of his power shots. He said: “Mark de Mori made one mistake and he was unconscious for five minutes. If Anthony Joshua makes a mistake he will be unconscious for five minutes. He obviously wants to wait a little while to get some more world-class experience, which is understandable.”
Haye’s next fight is pencilled in for May 21st, opponent TBA; he has vowed to stay active following his prolonged stint on the side-lines.
The former WBA titlist has had injury problems in the past, but brought a huge crowd to London's O2 Arena as well as registering a sizeable TV viewing figure for his quick fire win over de Mori to prove that he is still a bankable commodity on the U.K. boxing scene.
