World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman has urged David Haye to be a touch more patient in his quest to become heavyweight champion of the world.

It only seems like it was five minutes ago that Haye relinquished his WBC cruiserweight belt, although it was on May 12th of last year. And then he walloped Monte Barrett on November 15th, in a war, which Monte was knocked down five times before the fight was stopped at 1:28 of the fifth round. Twenty-eight-years young, Haye has himself stated that he wants to win the heavyweight title, and defend it up untilhis thirty-first birthday, when he’ll hang up his gloves.

But time is not yet on his side. The Klitschko brothers, who’s he’s stuck to like bee’s wax, have been nettled by David’s verbal barbs and loquacious Hayemakers . But David, who’s currently ranked at number five by the WBC, hasn’t yet been able to get to number one in the hit parade of the brothers.

Vitali is poised to fight Cuban Juan Carlos Gomez on March 21, who’s also paradoxically a former cruiserweight Champion. While Wladimir looks likely to be clashing with Chris Arreola.

“Some of the greatest prospects that I’ve seen in my life, have failed because of a lack of patience. If David Haye insists on a step which is too close to him, he might fail. I would recommend to him to wait for the opportunity, and it’ll come," Sulaiman told BoxingScene.com

“A fight with Vitali Klitschko would be a lot of money for him (David), and now his attention is on the money. But I believe that he could have a very long career in the heavyweight division, and he has all the factors in his favor to become a great champion - if he waits for his time. And I don’t think he’ll have the opportunity sooner than the end of 2009.”
