Eddie Hearn has dismissed the suggestion that David Haye’s first fight in three-and-a-half-years will be aired on Sky Sports.

The Matchroom Boxing chief was asked the question on social media and quickly batted away the idea that ‘Haye Day’, as it’s being billed, will end up on the multi-sport subscription platform.

Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) returns on January 16 at London’s O2 Arena in a 12-round non-title clash against Australia’s Mark de Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs), which –– after several miscommunications –– Boxing Scene has established is being sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control.

At the time of writing, no broadcaster has been appointed to show the card but Boxing Scene understands that ITV, Spike and Apple TV are all a possible platform for the Haye-De Mori card.

But there was suggestion from Hearn, however, that future David Haye fights could be screened on Sky Sports.

He used the phrase “not this fight”, which suggests that there have been discussions –– or that they will take place in the near future –– regarding potential future outings being shown on the channel.

There has been talk in some quarters of a potential matchup between Haye and British, Commonwealth, WBC International and Olympic heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs).

And with the prospect of that fight for spring or summer of 2016, providing both fighters win in the meantime, it makes sense that preliminary discussions are said to be underway to show Haye on Sky Sports.

‘Haye Day’ is backed by an undercard featuring former world featherweight champion Billy Dib (39-4, 23 KOs) and ex-British super middleweight ruler Tony Dodson (31-8-1, 15 KOs), and also features Wadi Camacho, Kay Prospere, Jose Lopes and Josh Kennedy.
