WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is not the only fighter who was upset with David Haye's mock photo of a slayed Wladimir Klitschko, it appears that WBA heavyweight champ Nikolai Valuev is upset as well.
During the weekend of Wladimir's one-sided win over Hasim Rahman in Germany [December 13], Vitali and Haye were involved in a minor scuffle after Haye showcased a photo that appeared in the UK version of Men's Health Magazine. The infamous photo showed the talkative Brit holding a bloody decapitated head of the younger Wladimir. The photo angered Vitali, who went after Haye in a packed restaurant. The two fighters were quickly broken apart. Once tempers began to cool down, both fighters agreed to a June fight in London.
Valuev said there is no room for Haye's type of behavior in the sport of boxing.
“That is disgusting behavior and there is no place in the sport of boxing for this. People who do this really hurt boxing’s reputation. One should act like a professional,” Valuev told The Sun.
Haye doesn't believe it was that serious, more of a case where Vitali took a joke the wrong way.
“We shook hands at the end. There’s no problem between us. I don’t envision any problems with the contracts for our fight being signed — Vitali seems like a man of his word," Haye said.
