At the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, David Diaz (35-2-1, 17KOs) pulled out a majority decision over Jesus Chavez (44-6, 30KOs) in a battle of former lightweight champions. The scores were 97-93, 96-94 for Diaz and 95-95 for the draw. Diaz made his return for the first time since being stopped by Manny Pacquiao last June. Chavez appeared like he was going to retire after the April TKO loss to Michael Katsidis. He returned against Diaz, made a decent showing and will likely continue.
