Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, Cabazon, California - In a battle of undefeated lightweights, Darley Perez (26-0, 19KOs) won a ten round split decision over Bahodir Mamadjonov (11-1, 7KOs). The scores were 96-93 for Perez, 95-94 for Mamadjonov, and 95-94 for Perez.
Perez started well in the first but he was rocked in the second round by a big left hand from Bahodir and mostly hung on to survive. Bahodir did well in the next few rounds, but Perez was in full controlof the sixth when he rocked Bahodir with a hard combination. In the eight round, a big right uppercut put Bahodir down. Bahodir survived but couldn't do much to change the outcome of the fight in the final two rounds as Perez piled on the points.
Chris Avalos (20-2, 15KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over the previously undefeated Yenifel Vicente (23-1-2, 15KOs) in a super bantamweight bout. All three judges saw it 97-92 for Avalos.
Avalos started well and swept the first three rounds. Vicente was getting more active with his punches in the fourth round. In the fifth round, Avalos dropped him hard with a counter left hook. Vicente got up on very unsteady legs. He was taking punishment but still throwing back with both hands to reach the bell. Vicente, who was nearly gone in the fifth, actually survived and fought well down the stetch, although Avalos had the edge in most of the rounds.
