BoxingScene.com has confirmed that WBA/WBC super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan (34-2 27 KOs) will move up to bantamweight when he faces Eric Barcelona (51-17, 19 KOs) on May 20 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. I've been told the fight has been approved for the vacant IBO bantamweight title.
If he wins, Darchinyan wants to return in the month of August, possibly against the winner of Yonnhy Perez-Abner Mares, which takes place on May 22 for the IBF bantamweight title.
