Vic Darchinyan (29-1, 23KOs) tells AAP that he needs a knockout when he fights Z Gorres (27-2-1, 15KOs) in an IBF super flyweight eliminator. The sold out event takes place at the Cebu City Hotel in Gorres' backyard of the Philippines on February 2.
Darchinyan is not willing to leave the fight in the hands of the judges, especially when the majority of the crowd in attendance will be cheering for Gorres.
"Because it is in the Philippines, I'm not going to let this go to the distance, points is very dangerous," Darchinyan said. "If I win by points, I don't think they are going to give it to me, I've got to go and knock him out."
Darchinyan, known for rough tactics in the ring, is actually concerned about the possibility of Gorres using illegal means to win.
"I've got to be careful, because I think he's going to come with head butts and all that stuff. If it goes the distance he can win the fight, so I think he's going to move a lot, punch and move and be fast. My whole preparation I've been fast at training, I'm very fast. He can't be faster than me."
