At the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California, Vic Darchinyan (34-2-1, 27 KOs) retained his WBC/WBA super flyweight titles with a battering of Rodrigo Guerrero (13-2-1, 9 KOs) over twelve rounds. Darchinyan hit Guerrero with everything but the kitchen sink - but could not knock him out. He was landing some heavy shots. Guerrero showed a solid, rock chin. The scores were 118-110, 117-111 and 120-108.

In the co-feature, lightweight contender Lenny Zappavigna (23-0, 15 KOs) picked up a twelve round unanimous decision over Fernando Angulo (22-7, 14 KOs) to win the vacant IBO title. The scores were 116-111, 116-111, and 114-113. The fight had a lot of action with the Zappavigna controlling the majority of the first half and Angulo coming back in the late rounds to make it close. Zappavigna was able to hang on and stayed composed to win.
