On the undercard to Joel Casamayor-Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Danny Perez (33-5, 17KOs), in only his second-bout since a three-year layoff, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Julio "Baby Face" Garcia (41-4, 35KOs) in a ten-round super middleweight contest. Perez was a late replacement for Yory Boy Campas (92-12, 74KOs). The scores were 100-90, 99-91 and 97-93.

Garcia didn't seem like he wanted to be in the fight. He was outhustled and appeared to be overmatched during the contest. Perez was using his jab, hitting his body and outworking him in almost every round. Garcia's corner was urging him to pick up the pace. He never could. Garcia is only 21-years-old, but he's been fighting since 15 and fought tonight like an old, shot fighter. In the last few years, Garcia has jumped from junior welterweight to super middleweight.
