Brooklyn, New York- In the two rounds between middleweights Danny Jacobs (30-1, 27 KO's) and Sergio Mora (28-4-2,9 KO's), there was two knockdowns in the first round. A knockdown in the second resulted in an ankle injury to Sergio Mora. Because Mora was unable to continue, the end result was a TKO victory for Jacobs.

“I did want him to be aggressive but he was a bit too aggressive,” Rozier told BoxingScene.com in reference to Jacobs being dropped by Mora.  “He got a little careless. He squared up and got hit with a shot but he was off balance. These things happen when you get a little excited. The eventuality of the knockout was coming. I looked at him and I said, come on, Danny can’t be careless, do what you do and we’ll be fine.”

Rozier believes the stoppage was coming and Mora took the easy road out.

“What I saw was Sergio finding a way to getting out of the fight without actually getting knocked out,” explained the trainer. “That was the perfect time for him to slide through it and he did.  We got the win and I got what I wanted out of it being the first one to stop Sergio Mora.“

During the post-fight presser, Jacobs agreed with his trainer's viewpoint that Mora used the injury to escape a knockout loss - "I can agree with that, I can agree with that."

Next up for Jacobs might be an all Brooklyn showdown with Peter Quillin. Both men have tasted the canvas in their recent fights but Rozier says he will have Jacobs ready for Quillin.

“When we fight Quillin, Danny will be on his P’s and Q’s and he won’t be getting caught like that because then I’ll be slapping him. Peter tasted the canvas against Andy Lee. Lee has a great right hook. Danny’s not a southpaw and has a good right hook, so we can say the same for him in regards to getting dropped.”
