IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green is considering the possibility of walking away from the sport of boxing. Green says he could have been killed after being "horrifically misdiagnosed" by a West Australian doctor. A few days ago, he landed in Perth's St John of God hospital for emergency surgery to remove an abscess "the size of a softball" from his stomach. Green has a long road to recovery and doesn't have any idea if his body will return to normal.
"Could it all be over? Yeah, definitely," Green conceded. "What's happened to me, it's all pretty crazy and no one is sure what recovery I'll make. "But I'm just relieved to be here, to know that I can still play a role in my kids' lives. If a few things had gone differently over the past couple of days . . . yeah, right now I could be brown bread."
