IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green is no fool. Even in his own backyard of Australia, Green doesn't want his title defense against Roy Jones Jr. to reach the scorecards. There is a lot of money to be made with a Jones win. The former four division fighter has a major rematch already set with Bernard Hopkins in March of next year in Las Vegas. All he needs to do is get past Green on December 2 to make the Hopkins fight happen.
Green feels Jones is overlooking and underestimating his skills. He thinks Jones is too busy thinking about the already set Hopkins rematch.
"Do I think he's underestimated me? Yes," Green said to AFP. "I think everyone's underestimated me. Roy is the raging favorite and rightly so on his career and his achievements and his ability as a fighter. So yeah of course I'm the underdog but that's going to work in my favor. I know what I'm up against, I know what I'm about to face and I'm cool with that."
Jones' manager McGee Wright is not paying attention to Green's knockout boasts. He is confident that Jones will win the fight with a big KO.
"There ain't one doubt in my mind, Roy Jones will knock Danny Green out, no question," McGee said.
