Brooklyn, NY - Danny Garcia (30-0, 17 KO’s) is looking to make a statement this Saturday as he steps into the ring against two-division champion Paulie Malignaggi at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Garcia is confident that his style is meant to beat anyone in boxing and that his move to 147 was much needed.
“My 100 percent is going to beat everybody,” Garcia told BoxingScene.com. “My style is meant to beat anybody in the game.”
Garcia feels that his move to 147 will actually make him faster and give him much more ability to box.
“I actually feel faster at 147,” stated Garcia. “140 was forcing me to fight one way and that was forward and that’s why people thought I was flat-footed. I was drained so I always had to come forward and overpower my opponent.”
Too the critics that may sound far-fetched due to Garcia’s style. But Garcia feels people forget that his biggest win in his career was won by out boxing Lucas Matthysse.
“I can box,” explained Garcia. “I outboxed Lucas Matthysse so that should show you right there. I was national amateur champion and you can’t be that by not knowing how to box. I sparred 12 rounds plenty of times in camp and I was fighting every minute of every round, 10th, 11th, and 12th round. I’ll be good to box for 12 come fight night.”
