Lightweight prospect Dannie Williams (19-1) told Boxingscene.com that he wanted to throw his name in the mix to face WBA champion "Bam Bam" Brandon Rios on December 3rd, when Rios returns on the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito undercard at New York's Madison Square Garden.
Williams, who is trained by Jack Loew, has only lost once in his pro career and that was against the undefeated Eloy Perez.
Williams told BoxingScene that Rios may have interest in facing him because of their history in the amateur ranks. Williams said that the two fighters split both of their fights.
"Rios is a great fighter. We were 1-1 in the amateurs and I dropped him once. I think it would be a great fight."
Williams is riding a seven fight winning streak and wants to face any of the top fighters in the lightweight division. He said that his goal is to get ranked by all the sanctioning bodies in route to a title shot.
"I want to get ranked by all of the governing bodies. I need a big win so I can get a shot at a title," Williams told Boxingscene.com.
