The WBA has rescheduled the purse bids for Daniel Santos (32-3, 23 KOs) vs. Yuri Foreman (27-0, 8 KOs) until August 17. Santos makes a mandatory defense of his WBA junior middleweight title.
Santos has not fought since last July's upset knockout of Joachim Alcine. Santos traveled to Alcine's backyard of Montreal and knocked him out to capture the WBA title. Since that time, Santos has had a mountain of bad luck. He was scheduled to fight in Japan in January but the opponent withdrew. He was then offered a fight against Sergio Martinez in February. His promoter Don King agreed, Santos did not. He said there was not enough time to train for Martinez and turned down the fight. He was then scheduled to make a defense against James Kirkland in the fall. Those plans went under when Kirkland was arrested for a firearms violation.
