There appears to be some talk that WBA junior middleweight champion Daniel Santos (32-3, 23KOs) will make the first defense of his title in January against Nobuhiro Ishida (20-5, 7KOs). The fight would take place in Japan.

Santos has been inactive since knocking out previously undefeated Joachim Alcine in July to capture the title. No stranger to traveling, Santos won the title before Acline's hometown crowd in Quebec, Canada. Ishida won a WBA eliminator on September 22 with a split decision win over Marco Antonio Avendano. He's never fought outside of Japan and lost only once since 2003, dropping a decision to Crazy Kim. Ishida has never been stopped.
