WBA junior middleweight champion Daniel Santos (32-3-1, 23 KOs) is expecting his promoter Don King to propose a deal for a ring return in either March or April. Santos has been inactive since last July's title winning effort over previously undefeated Joachim Alcine.

Santos was offered two fight dates against Sergio Martinez, January 17 and February 14, and turned both down over concerns that he wouldn't have enough time to prepare. He wanted to face Martinez in March, but saw that fight go up in smoke after Martinez signed to fight Kermit Cintron on February 14.

"At this moment I am expecting that Mr. King will bring me a new offer. We expect that I can return to the ring in March or April. February 14 was too early for me. I am still training at a low level, basically running, but we are maintaining my condition for when they tell me the new date [for the fight] so I will be ready to go and won't start with nothing," Santos told Primera Hora.
