The former world featherweight champion of the World Boxing Council ( WBC), Mexico's Daniel Ponce De Leon, is training full steam for his scheduled return on the 23rd of November with the opponent and venue to be confirmed, accoridng to his manager Frank Espinoza. The Chihuahuan boxer had his last fight on May 4, when he lost to Abner Mares in nine rounds. Now with a record of 44-5 with 35 knockouts, Ponce is heading to the super featherweight division.
"Daniel is training in Montebello, California, and he looks in great physical condition. He is eager to return to boxing and now has a date of November 23," said Espinoza. "He wants to come back stronger than ever and wants to once again become a world champion. Daniel still has a lot to give in boxing and now he wants to test himself at super featherweight. I think he can do some very good things [at 130], because he won't have to sacrifice as much to make weight."
