Eddie Hearn, promoter for former middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (33-2, 29 KOs), really likes the idea of a fight in the near future with undefeated Jermall Charlo.
Charlo (27-0, 21 KOs) was in action last week, when he scored a brutal knockout of Hugo Centeno to pick up the WBC's interim-middleweight title.
Jacobs is back on Saturday night, when he faces Maciej Sulecki at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
If all goes well on Saturday, Jacobs will be looking for a big fight.
There has been a lot of animosity between Jacobs and Charlo - with the two boxers trading words on social media and in person.
Hearn has discussed the fight with Charlo on social media, and believes the contest is possible.
"[We've spoken] a little bit on social media. I think Charlo is a fighting guy, I like him. He's really entertaining. The problem is with guys like Cgarlo, is no one has a clue who Charlo is. He can walk down his own drive and no one would know who Charlo is. He has to do all of the promotion himself. You see him flying around and he's yapping, and he's doing a really good job. The problem is when there is no promotional machine behind them," Hearn told BoxingScene.com's Declan Taylor.
Hearn would love to see Charlos get a mouthpiece in order to become a bigger name in the sport - and in turn make a fight with Jacobs even bigger.
"I sometime get some criticism from the PBC guys and they do a great job, but you need a mouth. I'm a mouthpiece. You stick me up there and I will talk, that's what I do. I'm just traveling salesman. Where are their traveling salesmen? It's like Deontay Wilder, sitting on Instagram and trying to build a fight with Anthony Joshua. They need help these guys, Charlo and Wilder, and when we come here in full force in September, these guys will be on the radar for Matchroom USA," Hearn said.
