On the undercard to Oscar De La Hoya-Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, super middleweight prospect Daniel Jacobs (13-0, 12KOs) stopped Victor Lares (14-4, 3KOs) in two rounds.
The tone of the fight was set at the start as Jacobs punished Lares in the first, pounding his head and body all over the ring. In the second, Jacobs turned on the heat with his body work. Lares went down and the ref stopped the fight a few seconds later.
After making his debut last December on the Mayweather-Hatton undercard, Jacobs has fought twelve times in 2008. Under the managerial eye of Al Haymon and being pushed by Golden Boy Promotions, expect Jacobs to step up his competition in 2009.
