BoxingScene.com caught up with WBA "regular" middleweight champion Danny Jacobs (29-1) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Tuesday afternoon.  The cancer survivor was taking in Floyd Mayweather's "Grand Arrival" for his showdown against Manny Pacquiao that takes place Saturday on HBO/Showtime pay-per-view.

Jacobs was last in the ring this past Friday when he successfully defended his title against Caleb Truax.  Jacobs was well ahead on the cards when he hurt and finished off Truax in the 12th round.  The Brooklyn, NY native said that he wanted to go 12 full rounds but saw the opportunity to put an exclamation point on his victory and went for it.

"It was for myself as well as for the fans. I saw the opportunity once I hurt him.  I am the type of guy with really good boxing skills but if I have a guy hurt I really know how to get a guy out of there.  He has a reputation of never being knocked out, never being hurt and never being dropped.  Just like I did with Giovani Lorenzo, I wanted to prove I can hurt this guy and that I can stop him.

"The 12 rounds showed  that I have the gas tank to go a full, hard 12 rounds with not a seasoned vet - but a top guy and get him out of there when I wanted to. I wanted to go 12 rounds then when the 12th round came I said, 'let's get him out of there' and it was the perfect closing," Jacobs stated.

The 28-year-old Jacobs didn't absorb very much damage in his fight and said that he is hoping to stay active and is planning to return in the summer.

"Hopefully I can be back in the next 90 days or so.  Sometime in July or August.  When I first turned pro they had me fighting every month.  I fought 13 times in a year.  I won't keep that regimen but hopefully I can stay as active as possible," Jacobs told BoxingScene.com.
