At the Silverdome in Tasmania, Australia, middleweight Daniel Geale (22-1, 13KOs) dominated Brazil's Samir Dos Santos Barbosa to win the vacant IBF Pan Pacific title. The scores were 120-108 across the board. It was the first fight for Geale since the May split-decision loss to IBO champ Anthony Mundine.
Geale's jab and combination punching kept Barbosa at bay and never allowed him to get off or land many punches in return. Geale's goal is to secure a rematch with Mundine.
"I would have been in there tonight with him if they let me, I would have been in there tonight and we would have given it to him," Geale said of Mundine to the AAP. "He knows that, that's why he wants to prolong it as much as he can. It's going to come guys, so just be patient. It's going to come and I'm going to take him."
