Tasmanian boxer Daniel Geale will defend his International Boxing Federation world middleweight title in his home state, his manager says.
The Launceston-born fighter claimed the title with a win over German Sebastian Sylvester last month, and together with manager Bill Treacy has been drumming up support for a bout in his home state.
Treacy said Geale would take on American Eromosele Albert somewhere in Tasmania on August 31.
"The fight is 100 per cent going to be in Tasmania, where it is between Launceston and Hobart will depend on a bit of sponsorship," Treacy told the Hobart Mercury on Tuesday.
"I'll say over the next few days for sure."
The Tasmanian government said last week it would not be underwriting the bout.
