Daniel Echeverria picked up his 6th straight stoppage win after forcing Eduardo Montoya to quit prior to the start of the 7th round of their lightweight bout Saturday evening at Gran Plaza de Piedras Negras in Coahuila, Mexico.

It wasn't the type of explosive knockout to which Echeverria has come accustomed, but the 21-year old was steady in breaking down his eager but overwhelmed foe. A point deduction for a low blow was the lone hiccup in an otherwise flawless performance.

Montoya took a beating for six rounds, after which his corner decided to keep their fighter on his stool prior to the start of round seven.

The win pushes Echeverria's record to 14-0 (13KO), going the deepest he's been forced to fight in a pro contest to date. Echeverria has fought past the fourth round just three times in his career.

Montoya falls to 13-4-1 (10KO). The 20-year old has now suffered back-to-back stoppage losses.

The bout aired live on Cadena Tres in Mexico.
