UFC President Dana White believes Anderson Silva, a legend in MMA, is a legit opponent for Youtube star turned boxer Jake Paul (5-0, 4 KOs).
There are numerous reports pointing to a potential fight between Paul and Silva for the month of October.
The Brazilain star is widely regarded as one the best fighters to ever compete in mixed martial arts - and during his prime he was the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC.
Silva (3-1, 2 KOs), 47-years-old, returned to the world of boxing in 2021.
He pulled off an upset with a decision win over former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. - and then scored a first round knockout over another MMA legend, Tito Ortiz.
Earlier this year, Silva outboxed Bruno Machado in an exhibition bout.
Paul was due to return last month, against once-beaten heavyweight contender Hasim Rahman Jr. - who was a late replacement for unbeaten light heavyweight Tommy Fury.
The entire event was scrapped.
Fury was pulled when he was denied entry to the United States. And Rahman was pulled when it became apparent that he couldn't make the contract weight.
White, a longtime critic of Paul, says Silva is a real opponent for the novice fighter.
“I don’t give a sh!t about [Jake Paul], but if he’s really fighting Anderson Silva, if that’s true, it’s about time. He’s got a real fight on his hands there, regardless of how old Anderson is. Yeah, that’s a real fight," White recently stated to reporters.
“Stop asking me about Jake Paul, you guys. I don’t give a sh!t what Jake Paul does. I know you love this sh!t, but c’mon, this guy has nothing to do with my business. He doesn’t fight for me, he’s not even in the same f------ sport as me. I don’t want to talk about him anymore. I don’t care.”
