Dalton Smith put in something of a punch-perfect display on his debut.
The Sheffield man, who is campaigning at super-lightweight and is trained by his father Grant Smith, outpointed Lucas Leskovic at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.
Smith, 22, was in control throughout against his Croatian opponent, exclusively live on Sky Sports and DAZN, as part of the supporting cast to Jordan Gill's bid to retain the WBA International featherweight title against Enrique Tinoco.
And ‘Never Give Up On Life’ got his paid career off to a flyer when the referee, Kevin Parker, turned in a tally of 40 points to 36.
“It’s been a dream for me to do this since I was a young boy,” said Smith afterwards. “The rust from my debut is off now and I can’t wait to get back in there.”
Smith hailed the impact of Jamie Sheldon, the cutman, for his hand-wrapping skills after his bow in the paid code.
“I’ve had my hand problems as an amateur, but they felt solid in there and I’m excited for the next one,” he added. “I want to be as active as I can and Eddie Hearn, my promoter, is the man to make sure that happens.”
