Dale Evans is looking ahead to a positive future which will likely involve a British title clash.

'Big Boy' Evans divulged the details on his new trainer and what impact he feels it may have on his career.

“I've linked up with Tony Borg [trainer of IBF featherweight world champion Lee Selby] for the future and training is going really well,” Evans told Boxing Scene. “I'm really enjoying working with Tony.

“I'm still managed by [former trainer] Gary Lockett and we are still on good terms, however, I feel by working with both Tony Borg and Gary Lockett can only give me the best possible opportunities to be successful in the coming months and years.”

Evans is currently in limbo as he awaits a shot at the British title. The St Clears resident opened up on the politics involved in him gaining his British title shot and what his plans are in the immediate future.

“I believe Shayne Singleton is still mandatory for Skeete as he provided the correct information regarding his injury so he is still mandatory,” he continued.

“The winner of Skeete/Singleton then has a voluntary defence then it will be my turn to box for the British title.

“In the meantime, I'm looking at getting back in the ring soon in possibly a tick over fight. If any opportunities came up to box for international titles I would take them in a heartbeat.”

It's hard to talk to Dale Evans without mentioning the tragic events surrounding his last contest with Dundee's Mike Towell in what was such a great fight before the tragic events that followed the bout.

Evans, 25, who has a record of 12-3-2 with four early endings, opened up about the impact that night will have on his career going forward.

“What happened was a tragedy. The last few months have been hard but I'm starting to get back to my normal self now. I still get calls from reporters just wanting to know about it. It's not nice.

“I promised that when I win the British title it's not just for me it's for Mike too. That's the best tribute I can give to him and that's what I will do.”
