According to Kyodo News, the team of WBA flyweight champion Daiki Kameda have balked at the WBA ordered title defense against Takefumi Sakata. The WBA scheduled a purse bid on April 29 at the Wynn Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The issue has to do with the pending civil suit between the Kameda camp and Kyoei Boxing Gym over fight money. The Kyoei Boxing Gym is the current gym of Sakata.
Reps for the Kyoei Gym will attempt to reach a deal with the Kameda camp. If they are unable to do so, they plan to participate in the purse bid with or without the Kameda camp.
"We will speak with the Kameda gym and make a decision on our course of action," said Kyoei executive director Suzuharu Kitazawa.
