According to Nikolay Baklanov, the vice-president of Kirill Pchelnikov’s promotional company, IBF #1 ranked heavyweight and Wladimir Klitschko’s IBF official challenger Vyacheslav “The Czar” Glazkov (20-0-1, 12 KOs) will take part in a tune-up fight in mid-August, in order to stay busy for the fight of his career. The Ukrainian is penciled in to compete in Krasnodar, Russia, against the ever dangerous TBA. No more details are available at the moment.
WBC #3 / WBO #5 and WBA #11 Glazkov, 30-years-old, is a 2008 Beijing Olympics super heavyweight bronze medalist. He made his pro debut in 2009 on the undercard of the Grigory Drozd vs. Darnell Wilson showdown. He has been on a roll ever since, fighting exclusively in the New World for the last two and a half years. The Ukrainian is co-promoted by the Main Events and Kirill Pchelnikov.
Despite being ranked #7 by the respected Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, Glazkov had his share of adversity as of late, by landing on the fortunate side of three controversial decisions – a draw against Malik Scott in February 2013, majority win over Derrick Rossy in August 2014, and a unanimous decision over Steve Cunningham in his latest fight this past March. The latter was also the IBF final eliminator.
