Driffield’s Curtis Woodhouse suffered a setback when losing on points to Peter McDonagh during his last action of 2010.  Prior to this, the former Premiership footballer was having a fantastic year – his win over Stefy Bull was showcased on Sky TV and the ink was still drying on a three-year contract with Frank Warren when McDonagh upset the applecart.

Curtis, however, has often stressed that he is learning on the job, he feels that a few more wins could propel him into a fight against Hull’s rising prospect Tommy Coyle.  Indeed, Curtis, 14-2 (9), played for Hull’s football team; he believes that a fight with Coyle is a potential derby classic.

“I'd love to fight Tommy Coyle a bit further down the line. If we could get it organised with a title riding on it that would be great,” revealed Woodhouse when speaking to Grimsby Times.

He added: “Just the thought of that fight excites me.  It would be a sell out, the fans would love it and it would be a good old-fashioned scrap.  We are both light welterweights and Hull's a small place.  It’s maybe not big enough for both of us – so one of us is going to have to go.”

Coyle moved to 7-0 (2) with a win over Matt Seawright on December 19; the 21-year-old prospect wants to settle local business but insists that he will set the timescale.  He said,  “Curtis has said a few things about fighting me in the past and it would be great to meet him in the ring, but I've already got my next two fights sorted out and my focus right now is on my Sky TV show in January [Saturday night].  Curtis can wait.”
