Driffield’s Curtis Woodhouse takes on former EBU and IBO lightweight titlist Jason Cook at Rotherham’s Magna Centre on November 26th.  Dave Coldwell, the manager of Woodhouse, confirmed the contest earlier today and expects fireworks from the two fighters.

Woodhouse dragged Frankie Gavin to a split-decision in his last outing, scores of 112-117, 113-116 and 115-114 ensuring that ‘Funtime’ Frankie kept his WBO Inter-Continental welterweight belt.  Curtis, though, boxed out of his skin on the night, earning rave reviews from people within the trade and silencing those who had questioned his decision to leave football behind for a boxing career back in 2006.

Cook drew with Lenny Daws for the British 140lb belt in February 2010; he lost by tenth round TKO to current incumbent Ashley Theopane in July.  The Welshman sandwiched a brace of wins between the two outings, beating Barrie Jones and Mounir Guebbas respectively.

‘The Power’ holds a 28-4-1 (14) slate; Woodhouse’s 15-3 (10) record includes the tussle with Gavin as well as wins over Stefy Bull and Jay Morris.  Indeed, Cook is a puncher, Woodhouse a come forward fighter who likes to have a tear up, the former Premiership player stated that, “This will be a cracker: hands up, chin down and bombs away,” when confirming the contest.

Coldwell has also revealed that the bout will be fought over ten-threes.  For ticket information contact Dave via Twitter @davidcoldwell.
