Cory Spinks trainer and manager Kevin Cunningham said that he was ready to stop the fight when Cory Spinks was in trouble on Saturday but the referee beat him to it.
"I had no problem (with the stoppage), I was going up the steps to stop it myself. This just wasn't Cory's night."
Cunningham admitted that Cory did not have the stuff Saturday and failed to execute a smart gameplan against Zab Judah.
"Sometimes the fighter walks up those steps and he's on his game, and sometimes he doesn't have his stuff. I've never seen him mentally not focused, but Cory didn't have his stuff."
"It wasn't so much what Zab did as that Cory wasn't doing his thing. He wasn't using his jab, he didn't get in a rhythm, he wasn't putting combinations together. Zab, he did what he had to do to win. I just think Cory got too emotional being at home. He just got caught up in 22,000 people coming out and everybody showing him love."
