As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, charismatic former world champion Carlos 'Príncipe' Cuadras will return to the ring on February 24 at the Forum in Inglewood, California against McWilliams Arroyo (16-3, 14 KOs), but this time he will do it with a new head trainer - Abel Sanchez.
Cuadras (36-2-1, 27 KOs) said he is currently working on physical conditioning in the mountains of Jiquipilco, State of Mexico, but later this month he will travel to Big Bear, California, to begin the technical preparation with Sanchez, who is recognized for his work with fighters such as Gennady Golovkin and Murat Gassiev.
"I'm closing the year in Jiquipilco, I came to a high altitude camp to get conditioning to start my training on December 26 in Los Angeles, I will train with Abel Sanchez in Big Bear," Cuadras said to ESPN Deportes.
The idea of ??changing his trainer again, according to Cuadras, is that the level of opponent demands it.
A few months ago he was with Rudy Hernández, then he joined Jorge Barrera and now Abel will arrive.
"I'm training hard and with Abel's advice I think I can achieve a clear victory, maybe by knockout, I have not knocked out anyone out for a long time and I want to win this fight by knockout, I'll push from the beginning," said Cuadras.
Regarding his Puerto Rican foe, who has not been in the ring since 2016 when he lost to Román González, Cuadras said he can not underestimate him.
"Arroyo is a good fighter, it's going to be a tough fight, he's quite experienced, he went to the Pan-American Games just like me, I think it will be a great fight, he's a very experienced, difficult fighter, he gave a great fight to 'Chocolate ', but I have the qualities to go out with my hand up," Cuadras said.
"By 2018, after this fight, I would like to go against Estrada or Rungvisai, a rematch with either one. I want to be champion again, that's what I want."
That February 24 card will be broadcast by HBO, Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada will go for the super flyweight title of the World Boxing Council against Srisaket Rungvisai in the main event.
