Marcus Morrison has had his ring return confirmed.
The Hattersley super-welterweight will fight in his home city for the third time on the bounce next time he dons the gloves.
Morrison, 12-0 (9 KOs), will be chasing his fifth straight stoppage win when he features at Manchester Arena on September 24, exclusively live on Sky Sports.
He was last in action on June 18 on a Lindemann SEL-promoted card at Event City, where he stopped Konstantin Alexandrov in the first of four scheduled rounds.
But the 23-year-old, who won his first title as a professional in May when he picked up the vacant WBC International Silver middleweight title with a two-round demolition of vastly overmatched Brazilian Jefferson Luiz De Sousa, will return to his more natural weight on the undercard of his gym-mate Anthony Crolla.
Crolla tops the bill on a huge night of action as he comes up against Venezuela’s Jorge Linares in a mouthwatering showdown for the Mancunian’s WBA lightweight crown, plus the vacant WBC Diamond and Ring Magazine belts.
Also on the card, Isaac Lowe (12-0-1, 5 KOs) will defend his Commonwealth featherweight title.
‘The Westgate Warrior’, 22, had been set to appear on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s world heavyweight title rematch against Wladimir Klitschko on July 9, but that opportunity was shelved after Fury suffered an ankle injury, pulled out of the main event and caused the card to be postponed.
Morecambe native Lowe is now slated to put his belt on the line against former world title challenger Tshifhiwa Munyai after winning the vacant bauble in his last fight as he stopped Marco McCullough inside eight at the same venue.
Munyai (27-4-1, 15 KOs) is a former holder of the Commonwealth strap and has 19 more pro outings under his belt than Lowe, who is nine years the younger man.
‘The Atomic Spider’, 31, is much more experienced and has has three stoppages, all of which have taken place in Lancashire, in his last three outings.
