Hosea Burton will return to the ring in the autumn.
The British light-heavyweight champion (17-0, 8 KOs) will make a defence of his crown when he next dons the gloves on September 24, live on Sky Sports.
Burton, 27, who had been set to face Liverpool’s Tony Dodson in May before the former ruler was forced out through injury, will take on Frank Buglioni.
The clash, which has been highly anticipated since the latter’s move up to 175lbs, has been added to the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s WBA lightweight title defence against Venezuela’s Jorge Linares, with the vacant WBC Diamond and Ring Magazine championships also at stake.
Buglioni, who has challenged for a world title down at super-middleweight, recently signed a managerial agreement with Steve Goodwin and Goodwin Boxing and the 27-year-old (18-2-1, 14 KOs) will be fighting for the first time since March when he takes on ‘The Hammer’ at Manchester Arena.
The show’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed that the domestic dust-up would land on the world title fight undercard through social media after revealing that his company, Matchroom Sport, won the purse bids to stage the contest.
Also on the card, Marcus Morrison will fight for the 13th time as a professional back down at his natural weight of 154lbs, while Isaac Lowe will defend the Commonwealth featherweight title against former world title challenger Tshifhiwa Munyai and Tomi Tatham will clash with Liam Conroy in an official eliminator for Burton’s belt.
Meanwhile, there will be action for Conor Benn, who fights for what will be the fifth time in the paid code after he has appeared on the pay-per-view September 10 card at London’s O2 Arena, which is topped by Gennady Golovkin’s WBA Super, WBC, IBF and IBO middleweight title defence against IBF welterweight king Kell Brook and features two further world title fights.
