Former super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares (36-4-2, 15KOs) is ready for the full leap to bantamweight when he takes on Nehomar Cermeno (16-0, 10KOs) for the WBA interim-title on March 14 at the Auditorio Centenario in Coahuila de Zaragoza, Mexico.

Mijares has not fought since last November brutal knockout loss to Vic Darchinyan. He wants to make a strong run at bantamweight with the hope of a Darchinyan rematch when the strong Armenian fighter decides to move up in weight in the near future.

Cermeno of Panama has never fought anyone on the level of Mijares, with his best win coming against Marino Montiel in 2007.
