Former world champion Cristian "Diamante" Mijares (49-7-2, 24KOs) has inked a promotional agreement with Pepe Gomez of Cancun Boxing, and Guillermo Rocha of Boxing Time Promotions. Both promoters work very closely with Golden Boy Promotions. Discussions are ongoing to finalize a deal where Mijares will challenge Leo Santa Cruz for the WBC super bantamweight title on March 8th, as part of the Canelo-Angulo undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"I definitely made the right decision to sign with Pepe and Memo because I know they have the resources to take me to the point of recapturing a world championship. I am extremely grateful for the important support that I have received," Mijares said.
