ZACATECAS, ZACATECAS - On Saturday night, former world champion Cristian Mijares took a step towards his goal of landing a bantamweight title shot. Recently he vacated his IBF super flyweight title after stuggling with weight. on Saturday, he landed tremendous right hands to stop Colombia's Jonathan Perez in three rounds. Mijares (41-6-2, 19KOs) feels ready for a title shot, and wants either WBO super bantamweight champ Jorge Arce or WBC/WBO bantamweight king Nonito Donaire. Mijares dominated Arce at super flyweight in 2007.
"I feel much better at bantamweight, very strong and fast. This year I want go for the title against any of the world bantamweight champions, like a fight against [Fernando] Montiel, Arce or even Nonito Donaire. I'm going to meet with my representatives and discuss any options," said Mijares
