The World Boxing Council is considering the possibility of having Cristian “El Italiano” Esquivel fight for the universal bantamweight belt against Jorge "Travieso" Arce, in the unlikely event that Nonito Donaire is stripped of the title because of his inactivity in the ring.

Every day, Esquivel has to make a long journey from the State of Mexico to Mexico City.

"I am from a community called Santiago Huerta belonging to the municipality of Calimaya, State of Mexico. To travel from here takes me three hours, but with this sacrifice will receive a great reward and I hope that this year I will get the chance to challenge for the absolute WBC title," said Cristian Esquivel.

Remember that Arce and Esquivel are the highest ranked contender after Abner Mares, who is scheduled to challenge Joseph Agbeko for the IBF championship in August.
