It was officially announced on Tuesday that the highly anticipated match-up between junior welterweights Ruslan Provodnikov and Lucas Matthysse will be held at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in upstate New York. This will be one-half of a split-site doubleheader on April 18th on HBO.
The other fight on that broadcast will feature former WBO lightweight beltholder Terrence Crawford, who was just recently named by the BWAA as it's 2014 Fighter of the Year. He is slated to face Thomas Dulorme in his 140-pound debut.
As for where this bout will take place, Bob Arum said to BoxingScene.com on Tuesday afternoon:
"We have three venues that we're holding and that venue that we really want, Todd(duBoef) is meeting with the owner tonight in Los Angeles."
Arum noted that this venue, which he described as ''very, very unique," was located in the East Coast.
