WBC/WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford has ripped apart Angel Garcia, the father and trainer of WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia.
Angel, in a recent interview, took shots at Crawford's decision to defend his titles against John Molina on December 10th in Omaha. He also had some choice words about Crawford facing a smaller fighter in Yuriorkis Gamboa. Angel got the weight division wrong, as Crawford vs. Gamboa took place at lightweight and not junior welterweight.
Molina was at one time the frontrunner to face Garcia this coming Saturday night in Philadelphia. Garcia decided to take a pass on Molina and instead finalized a fight with huge underdog Samuel Vargas. The fight with Vargas is a ten round non-title contest. Vargas, who was easily demolished last year by unbeaten welterweight contender Errol Spence, is listed as high as a 100-1 underdog in some betting circles.
Angel's comments got back to Crawford, who took to social media to tear apart the controversial trainer.
"I just want to get on a topic that I stumbled across.. with Angel Garcia. Angel the drunk. Angel the dope head. Angel the meth head Garcia. Man, what's wrong with this guy? This guy is full of drugs. That's what he is, full of drugs," Crawford said.
"How are you going to talk about me and John Molina, but you go out there and fight a fighter who is worse than John Molina. That doesn't even add up. The guy is ranked 42 in a division. What is that? C'mon man. Then you have the nerve to say something about me and John Molina. You should have took the fight, with John Molina. That would have been better than the fight you taking now. Then you said me and Gamboa fought at 140.. boy you smoking some good dope over there, because boy you sure was sweating in that video. Stop it, say no to drugs bruh.
