Terence Crawford isn't too concerned about the height of Viktor Postol. Crawford, who is listed at 5'8 gives up a few inches to the angular Ukrainian, who comes in at 5'11. Many believe this will be a difficult outing for the native of Omaha based on this dynamic.
But Crawford points out,"(Breidis) Prescott was tall, Andre Gorges was tall. I've fought eleven people taller than me in my career. How many people has he fought taller than him? I'm not worried about the height." Asked to describe Postol, he stated,"He's a tall fighter, tries to control the distance, use his jab and reach. That's about it."
Crawford-Postol, which takes place this Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, pits two undefeated junior welterweight belt-holders. It's a great fight on paper, but will it end up being more of a chess match on canvas?
"We just have to wait and see. I don't think he's going to trade with me that's for sure. Who knows how the fights going to go. It just depends on the moment and the mood,"said Crawford, who like Postol comes in with a perfect mark of 28-0.
Postol is a difficult stylistic match-up for any 140-pounder but Crawford didn't hesitate when this fight was offered.
"I ducks no one,"stated Crawford on Monday morning at the Fortune Gym in Hollywood, California, where a media day was held for him."I'm the best in the division and he feels he's the best in the division so why not see who's the best in the division is."
A win could put Crawford in position to face Manny Pacquiao in the fall but he says,"I'm not even worried about that, I'm not even thinking about that. My main focus is Postol - and that's it. I don't care what everybody is saying about the Pacquiao situation. That's not my opponent so that's not even on my mind."
