Craig Richards and Dan Azeez are set to do battle in Accra, Ghana, on December 20 as Matchroom Boxing stage an event in Africa for the first time. It will take place at the Legon Sports Stadium.

Richards and Azeez, both south Londoners, have seen their form falter in recent fights but both remain on the fringes of world contention in the light heavyweight division.

"This is going to be a December to remember,” said Eddie Hearn, per the press release. “Our first-ever show in Africa will be a truly momentous occasion. I am excited to be taking our business into another important global territory. We know the passion of the African fight fans is right up there with the most fervent in the world and this is a brilliant main event to look forward to.”

Richards is 19-4-1 (12 KOs) compared to Azeez's stats of 22-2-1 (14 KOs).

The event will feature up-and-coming super flyweight Theo Allotey, from Accra, taking on Filipino Jayr Raquine, 18-2-1 (14 KOs) for the WBA’s gold belt. Belguim’s Ibrahima Diallo, 12-0-2 (2 KOs), is also set to challenge for one of the fringe belts when he takes on Accra’s Sampson Segbedzi at junior middle.

Also set to appear is heavyweight prospect Leo Atang, 2-0 (2 KOs), and junior middleweight Nishant Dev, 4-0 (2 KOs).
