It was believed at the beginning of 2015 that WBC middleweight champion, Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs), would be taking on Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. But as Cotto delayed his decision, Alvarez moved on and went forward with plans to face James Kirkland in the month of May. As of now, it's not certain what Cotto will do next.

"Miguel is lucky, unlike a lot of fighters he accumulated a lot of money, he doesn't brag about it. But he's a very wealthy guy and he's been very careful with his money. So he'll fight, whether he'll fight is a decision not made by a guy who needs money. So it'll come when it comes."

"I think he'll probably fight in June. Who he fights will be determined in the next few days."

Cotto is most likely slated to return on June 13th, quite possibly at the Madison Square Garden in New York during the Puerto Rican Day Parade weekend. Cotto, has made this a traditional landing spot for him the past decade and last year on this festive occasion he captured the middleweight title by stopping Sergio Martinez in ten one-sided rounds in front of his frenzied partisans.

According to Arum, Cotto will have a meeting with Todd duBoef, Top Rank's President on Thursday. Names like Timothy Bradley and Brandon Rios have been kicked around for Cotto's next fight.
