On June 6th at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto takes on Daniel Geale. If he should win that fight, it's the hope of many boxing fans that a showdown versus Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez comes to fruition in the fall.

At the beginning of the year, the hope was that Cotto-Canelo would take place on May 2nd, according to Penagaricano, it just wasn't the real deal at the right time.

"Yeah, exactly, deals either you make them or you don't and at that time we couldn't come into a financial agreement. We already overcame that this time around," he said on Tuesday afternoon at the Wild Card Boxing Club, where Cotto held a media day.

One of the reasons that Cotto did not commit to a fight with Alvarez for May was that he was in the process of changing promoters, moving from Top Rank to Roc Nation Sports. This upcoming fight with Geale is his first under the Roc Nation Sports banner.

When asked about this agreement, all Penagaricano would say is - "I don't want to go in-depth into that but this is professional sports and athletes will look for the best deals and Miguel got the best deal in the market."

As for when Cotto-Canelo would take place (provided the Puerto Rican icon wins this upcoming fight).

''It's not decided, yet," answered Penagaricano. "With Floyd (Mayweather's) announcement for September 12th it's probably not going to happen there. So in-between September and December."
