Gaby Penagaricano, the adviser to former four division world champion Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33KOs), is well aware of the talk going around with a potential fight against another former four division world champion, Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs).
The idea of the fight first came about when Cotto's trainer, Freddie Roach, called Marquez 'the perfect opponent' for the Puerto Rican star's next return.
Marquez, 42-years-old, has been out of the ring since a May 2014 twelve round decision victory over Mike Alvarado. The boxer had planned several return dates, but he was never able to get them in place due to an ongoing issue with his knee.
There is no guarantee that Marquez will ever fight again. But if he did, there is some interest in facing Cotto as long as the two sides are able to agree on the weight.
Cotto was in the ring last November, when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
The Puerto Rican star is still relaxing and spending time with his family. There have been no discussions regarding his next career bout and his adviser says there is no meeting set as of yet to talk about the future.
"Yes I have seen the articles [about Cotto vs. Marquez]. But really the team has not met and there is no plan [right now regarding Miguel's future]. Frankly have not discussed anything," Penagaricano told ESPN Deportes.
