WBA welterweight champ Miguel Cotto and challenger Antonio Margarito made the final stop of their press tour in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The two fighters meet on July 26 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on HBO pay-per-view.
As fans were chanting for Cotto, the Tijuana Tornado, Margarito, said he plans to bring the belt back to Mexico.
"I am going to fight Cotto with a great strategy. I'm a Mexican champion who will give his best to come through with the win. I know alot of fans will go the show and many more will buy the pay-per-view. This is going to be a fight for history. I'm going to do everything I can to win," Margarito said.
Cotto was his usual confident self, declaring victory to a rowdy crowd that chanted his name throughout the press conference.
"It does not matter what happens in the fight because I'm going to do everything possible to carry me to victory. In a fight like this, the real winner will be the fan. I'm going to win this fight for Puerto Rico," Cotto said. "When you put two warriors in the ring to fight, two real boxers, this is what you are going to get, a real fight, a real battle."
"This it is a fight that compares a lot with that of Shane Molsey and that of Zab Judah, with Margarito being a big name. My training camp for Margarito will be similiar as to the one for the other two camps."
