The pride of Puerto Rico, Miguel Cotto, is preparing in Tampa, Florida for his challenge of WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman on June 5 at New York's Madison Square Garden. Cotto is being trained by Emanuel Steward.
Speaking with known scribe Luis Santiago, Cotto refused to give any comments on the ring return of Antonio Margarito. Cotto was knocked out by Margarito in 2008, but suspects the Mexican fighter used illegal handwraps. Ever since Margarito got caught with an illegal substance in his handwraps before the loss to Shane Mosley last January, Cotto has refused to talk about him and continues to say that he will never agree to a rematch because he doesn't think Margarito should be allowed to fight again.
Cotto thought Shane Mosley looked "worn down" in his decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Cotto won a decision over Mosley a few years ago. He thinks Mosley may have overtrained for the fight. Mosley was set to fight Andre Berto in January but that fight was canceled when Berto pulled out. Mosley never stopped training and continued to hit the gym until the May fight with Mayweather. Cotto saw Mayweather being "defensive as usual" but offered little more than that.
