Top Rank's Bob Arum says WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto will give Manny Pacquiao the toughest fight of his career. Arum arrived in Baguio City on Thursday and spoke with reporters about the Pacquiao-Cotto bout on November 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Arum spent some time in Pacquiao's training camp, watching the Filipino champ spar with Shawn Porter and Urbano Antillon at the Heads-Up Gym at the Cooyesan Plaza Hotel.
“Miguel Cotto would be the toughest opponent Manny will face in his boxing career,” said Arum to the Manila Times.
Reporters mobbed Arum with questions regarding a potential bout between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Arum refused to discuss any future opponents for Pacquiao. He plans to discuss the future on November 15, the day after Pacquiao fights Cotto. He sees Cotto will provide Pacquiao with a much tougher challenge than Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez or Oscar De La Hoya.
“Let us talk about who else he [Pacquiao] will fight the day after he fights Cotto because I think this is the hardest fight that Manny Pacquiao has to encounter,” Arum said.
